Materials you should use for roofing

Roofing is a hard job and if not done properly, it can lead to severe consequences which may result in wastage of money and resources. Framing, preparation and proper installation are essential aspects of roofing. But one simple aspect that is important yet people often undertook is the kind of materials that you will use for roofing. Because you may go for a cheaper material but in the end, you have to repair the roof sooner that you would have had expected. And roofing is something which needs to be done otherwise leakage or other factors may damage your house over time.

Here are few materials that you can consider for roofing.

Asphalt shingles: it is perhaps on one the most commonly used material for roofing. Since it is cheaper than other alternatives and much easier to install, hence asphalt shingles are used greatly. With varieties of colors, it does provide a valuable option yet it suffers from disadvantages that, unlike other materials, it doesn’t provide the layers nor it is equipped to be long lasting like the other ones.

Clay and concrete tiles: clay and concrete tiles are heavy ones. It is durable and lasts much longer than asphalt shingles but they are also a bit expensive. Not to mention, both needs additional framing for support but once done, you can have assured that your roofing is done with great support.

Metal shingles or panels: comes as both panel and shingles, these are also much more durable and lasts longer than asphalt shingles but they are a bit expensive.

Wooden shingles: it gives a natural appearance to the house and beautifies it magnificently but in order to use this, for safety reasons, you should check that it indeed has a fire proof coat or not. In some areas, due to restrictions on fire codes, wooden shingles may not be allowed. Not to mention, wooden shingles are prone to rot.
